Press Release: Safe Online Social Neighborhood Expands

MESA, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2006--Scrapbook.com, a leading online destination for scrapbookers worldwide, today announced it has acquired Scrapjazz.com (The Scrapbooking Megasite) and Scrap Tutor from Rochester, Minn.-based Infinite Publishing for an undisclosed sum. The combination will give Scrapbook.com even more features to provide its more than 450,000 monthly unique visitors, while simultaneously providing expanded services to the users of Scrapjazz.com.

This is a very important step for us," said Drex Davis, president of Scrapbook.com. "Scrapjazz is a strategic and business fit and compliments our strengths and goals in many ways. Scrapjazz.com has built a tremendous following and loyal community of dedicated scrapbookers, and we look forward to building on that foundation. By combining the strengths of the two sites, we will be able to offer a complete suite of services for creators and consumers of scrapbooking products, information, and education."

Scrapbooking -- creatively and artistically preserving memories either in hardbound books or online -- is a phenomenon sweeping the world. No longer the domain of a certain subset of the population or locale, scrapbooking is now just as likely to lure a grandmother from Texas as it is a teen from Mexico City.

"We see jumps in usage every day," said Davis. "Creative memory preservation, and sharing that in a safe neighborhood with others globally, is really a very fast growth sector. This move is one of what we think will be many as we plan to address the public's interest in what scrapbooking is all about -- preserving and honoring people and memories. Think about honoring soldiers, fathers, mothers, daughters, friends, special events, and so on; all warrant the easy and creative self-expression of a scrapbook, whether bound and displayed in a home, or stored and displayed online."

Scrapjazz.com was founded about the same time as Scrapbook.com by husband-and-wife team Ben and Andrea Steed and quickly grew to a site which currently sees 175,000 unique visitors each month. Scrap Tutor, a computer-based collection of lessons about scrapbooking, launched soon thereafter and grew to be one of the leading educational resources in the scrapbooking industry. "Scrapbook.com has always provided excellent service and materials of the highest quality to the scrapbooking community," said Andrea Steed. "This history and their vision give us confidence that under their direction, Scrapjazz and Scrap Tutor will provide even more great resources for scrapbookers in the future. The resources on these sites will now reach an even larger body of scrapbookers, giving them more information and inspiration than ever before."

In early 2006 Scrapbook.com launched a social networking platform for scrapbookers called "My Place." Since that move, the company has seen user numbers grow by more than nearly 50 percent, and currently 90,000 scrapbookers across the world have a personal Web space at Scrapbook.com. The Scrapbook.com site is frequented by various users, from those who just want to learn or connect with other scrapbookers, to those who purchase goods through the company's well-stocked and ever-fresh online product inventory. The company has doubled its revenues almost every year since its inception, when it was founded in the depths of the online "bust" period in 2001. The company currently employs 25 people and is using its growth position to make the moves it needs to be a vibrant player in this growing segment. The acquisition of Scrapjazz.com diversifies the company's revenue streams to include advertising revenues in a larger proportion.

"Over the past several years, I have developed an immense amount of respect and admiration for Scrapjazz and for the wonderful site they have built," said Jill Davis, founder of Scrapbook.com. Davis continued, "We have worked closely with Scrapjazz from the time it launched and we have always felt a sense of kinship with them. Both companies built successful businesses and uplifting online communities of people who share a passion for scrapbooking. Both companies owe much of their success to the strength and support of family as well as outstanding employees, contributors and community members. We are excited to continue the legacy."
